Lenovo followed up their Sunday announcement with more goodies yesterday. The trio of mid-range phones, which should go down well with the young, has some pretty decent specs for the price range.
The phones share some similarities such as the quad core MediaTek 6582 1.3 GHz processor, Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean), DOit premium apps, gesture and motion-based enhancements to user interface and 5 point multi-touch screen and dual SIM card capability. The phones also have 3G connections with speeds of up to 21 Mbps download and 5.76 Mbps upload.
S860
The most expensive of the lot, the S860, is also the biggest. The size comes with one good plus point which is the 4,000 mAh battery. This should easily bring you past the 24 hr day of use if required. Otherwise, it just means you won’t have to charge it as often. The phone has a brushed-metal exterior and is said to be resistant to scratches and fingerprints. It also comes with two speakers and a large 5.3 inch screen. Other highlights are as below:
- 5.3” 1280 x 720 IPS HD screen and pixel density of~277 ppi.
- 2 GB RAM, 16 GB ROM (No SD card slot).
- Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 HS.
- 8 MP auto-focusing rear camera with LED and flash, and a 1.5 MP front-facing, fixed-focus camera.
- 4000 mAh, non-replaceable, Li-Po battery. Gives up to 43 hours talk-time on 2G and 24 hours on 3G.
- Dimensions 149.5 x 77 x 10.3 mm and weighs 190 g.
- Only comes in Black.
S850
Next in line is the S850 which has an all-glass exterior. It has two speakers but trumps the S860 with a better camera. See features below:
- 5.0” 1280 x 720 HD wide-view screen and a pixel density of ~294 ppi.
- 1 GB RAM, 16 GB ROM (No SD card slot).
- Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 HS.
- FM Receiver (Radio).
- 13 MP auto-focusing rear camera with LED flash, and a 5 MP front-facing, fixed-focus, wide-angle camera.
- 2000 mAh, non-replaceable, Li-Po battery which is enough for a talk-time of 13 hours.
- Dimensions 141 x 71 x 8.2 mm and weighs 140 g.
- Comes in Pink or White
S660
The last on the list is the S660 which also happens to be the cheapest. Like the S860, it too has a brushed-metal exterior and is resistant to scratches and fingerprints but unlike the others, the S660 comes with a microSD card slot. Other features include:
- 4.7” 960 X 540 IPS qHD display with a pixel density of ~234 ppi.
- 1 GB RAM, Storage 8GB ROM and accepts microSD which supports up to 32 GB.
- 8 MP auto-focusing rear camera with LED and flash, and a 0.3 MP front-facing, fixed-focus camera.
- 3000 mAh, user replaceable Li-Po battery with talk time of up to 10 hours on 2G and 7-10 hours on 3G.
- Wireless Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n but surprisingly, the S660 comes with a newer Bluetooth 4.0 chip.
The devices are priced at US$349 for the S860, US$269 for the S850, and US$229 for the S660 and are expected to be available in selected markets from June 2014.
